WHEN MANY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO SAY THAT THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD IS TODAY THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT OF THEIR LIVES, THEY PRESENT A POWERFUL REASON WHY ONE SHOULD HAVE FAITH. WHEN WE SEE OTHERS SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS BY SIMPLE RELIANCE UPON SOME SPIRIT IN THE UNIVERSE, WE HAVE TO STOP DOUBTING THE POWER OF GOD. OUR IDEAS DID NOT WORK, BUT THE GOD-IDEA DOES. DEEP DOWN IN EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD IS THE FUNDAMENTAL IDEA OF GOD. FAITH IN A POWER GREATER THAN OURSELVES AND MIRACULOUS DEMONSTRATIONS OF THAT POWER IN OUR LIVES, ARE FACTS AS OLD AS THE HUMAN RACE.

The Serenity Prayer God please grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.

I was regretting the past and fearing the future... And suddenly my Lord was speaking... "My Name Is...I Am." He paused. I waited. He continued. "When You Live in the Past With Its Mistakes and Regrets, It Is Hard. I Am Not There. My Name Is Not...I Was. When You Live in the Future, With Its Problems and Fears, It Is Hard. I Am Not There. My Name Is Not...I Will Be. When You Live In This Moment, It Is Not Hard. I Am Here. My Name Is...I Am." Helen Mallicoat

Prayer For Peace Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen. Eleventh Step Prayer |

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this, you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. Thomas Merton

God, I offer myself to Thee - to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy will always. Third Step Prayer, The Big Book, Page Sixty-Three My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding. Amen. Seventh Step Prayer, The Big Book, Page Seventy-Six
